Gord began his drum corps career with the 330th RCAC Trumpet Band of Danforth Technical School which became the Danforth Tech Crusaders. He moved to the Toronto Optimists in 1957 when Barry Bell and Lorne Ferrazzutti moved there to instruct the corps. Gord played tenor in Optimists' drumline until he aged out after the 1960 season.
After leaving The Optimists, Gord played with the Jesters, then the Commanders. In addition, Gord instructed drums for the Bantam Optimists, the Scarborough Elainettes Baton & Drum & Baton Corps, St. John's Girls, Brantford Girls and the Ridge Raiders. Later in life, he played with both the Optimists Alumni and Toronto Signals as well as singing with the DCAT Chorus. Gord was still a member of DCAT and the Toronto Signals when he passed.
